RUNNING the RACE

This is Marathon Weekend when all the eyes of Massachusetts turn to the starting line in Hopkinton as many talented and determined runner’s line-up for the 26.2-mile race to Boston. The runners come from many places in life with a particular purpose, that is to complete the race. There are only a few winners, in different categories, but ultimately each participant is a winner because of the dedication and commitment they have made so that they can run the race. In Christianity we do not reflect upon who came in first, but rather our focus is upon all those who have engaged in running the race. May we be encouraged to run the race that is before us, keeping strong in our faith so that endurance granted by Jesus Christ will carry us to finish line as we finish the race.

May you each enjoy the marathon broadcasts which we will see on the news, but especially as we cheer on each individual who has committed themselves to running this race, in the same way we cheer on our brothers and sisters in faith who are running their own marathons.
