Often when a couple approaches a church for a wedding they wonder what it is they are supposed to do, and what it will all cost. This paper is written to answer those questions.
All arrangements for a wedding are to be made through the minister. To secure the use of the church, a couple should contact him at least 6 months prior to the wedding service. At that time the wedding date will be put on the church calendar and wedding forrns will be sent to the couple. When the forrns are returned to the minister and confirrnation of baptism as well as the compatabil ity of blood verification have been received, a conference time will be established.
There will be at least five conferences with the minister. The first conference will be a time to meet the couple, to talk generally about wedding plans, to arrange for music, to discuss the rehearsal and to explore any questions relating to the service.
The second conference will be a time to examine the specifics of the wedding with the purpose of adapting the wedding ceremony with all the details of the rehearsal and the service.
The third through fifth conferences will be for marriage counseling.
The minister will be present at the rehearsal to help each person in the wedding ceremony concern ing their roles and responsibilities.
The minister will be responsible for filling out the proper marriage papers to record the marriage with the church and state and providing the couple with a copy of the wedding service. The couple is to bring their marriage license to the third conference with the minister.
The minister will help coordinate the taking of pictures and videos in the church before and after the wedding ceremony.
The minister will be present on the day of the wedding to perform the service.
The church organist is available to provide music for a wedding service. All special music is to be arranged through the organist and minister.
The custodian of the church will care for the property of the church, clean prior to and after the ser vice, and be present at rehearsal and ceremony times.
The fees* for weddings in the church are attached along with the wedding application and are to be given to the minister at the rehearsal.
Arrangements can be made for other ministers and musicians to perform weddings in the church. These services are to be arranged by the couple and coordinated with the minister of the church.
Any questions concerning service for weddings will be answered by the minister.
*Church members and their children do not pay for the use ofthe church or the pastor 's fee.
